Solo Piano Double Series

Our “Solo Piano Double” series is an intriguing concept in that each artist will give a 45 minute set – they will not likely be sharing the piano stool and dueting, although that is possible but not requested! We are offering a wonderful incentive to pick four concerts and pay for just three. It all comes down to great playing, open minds and the spirit of discovery.

Solo Piano Double with Jenie Thai & Hilario Durán
The first in the series, pairs two very different and exceedingly talented artists - blues and soul, effervescent up and comer Jenie Thai and multi-award winning Cuban-Canadian Hilario Durán who studied at the Amadeo Roldan Music Institute in Havana and is considered an unparalleled composer/arranger of the first order.

Wednesday, July 11

Tuesday, July 17
Solo Piano Double with Suba Sankaran & Robi Botos

Robi was the TDGrand Jazz Award recipient at the 2012 Montreal International Jazz Festival.

Tuesday, July 24

Tuesday, July 24 we welcome another amazing pair of artists, Elizabeth Shepherd, whose debut album Start To Move was voted one of the best jazz CDs of the year by the listeners of highly regarded BBC Radio Worldwide’s Gilles Peterson Show. She is a jazz virtuoso with pop sensibilities & Aaron Davis. Aaron is an eclectic, first call composer/arranger and keyboardist in this country. He is a founding member of the Holly Cole Trio.

Tuesday, July 31
Solo Piano Double with Marilyn Lerner & Lance Anderson

The last Tuesday in July - the 31st - on paper this perhaps seems the most unlikely pairing - Marilyn Lerner, originally from Montreal is an exhilarating jazz pianist and improviser & Lance Anderson who trained as a classical composer is a marvelous pianist and B3 player. He is revered in jazz/blues and r&b. but really when it comes to amazing piano players - anything goes.

Wednesday, August 8

Wednesday, August 8 promises to be a wonderfully eclectic evening. Tuesday, August 21
Solo Piano Double with Sarah Hagen & Tyler Yarema

Closing out this inaugural series we will be treated to west coast-based pianist Sarah Hagen who has made a name for herself as a classical soloist and chamber musician and knows that music will forever be in her life, and the wildly popular self-taught pianist Tyler Yarema whose musical styles include blues/jump-blues/swing/boogie and more.
